We wish all of you who have endured our mutterings on this website over the past ten months a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the year ahead.
We are furiously packing our van and trailer with another load of furniture and other worldly possessions ready for another trip to the Barrier. The poor van is bursting at the seams! First we’ll have a succession of Christmas breakfasts and dinners on the mainland before departing to join friends on the island. A number of our friends are joining us for the days leading up to the New Year where we’ll merrily join the rest of the island at a local dance party (or two). Adam has a quick flight back to the mainland on New Year’s Day to join a family function (joining one hangover with another). Peter meanwhile will hold the fort at Camp Barrier (our place). Then Adam returns the next day where there’ll be preparations for the Long Island Lunch on Jan 3rd. It’s gonna be an open house at our place over the New Year period – plenty of campers, food, and island fun (hi-de-hi campers!). We might even learn how to fillet fish over the next few weeks! (yes, we live on an island but haven’t learned this essential survival skill yet!).
Have a safe Christmas.
Adam and Peter
