This website is the story about two unlikely lads and a daring plan to escape the ‘rat race’ and relocate to a remote island at the edge of Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf.
Great Barrier Island (Aotea Island) is located 90km to the east of Auckland. It is New Zealand’s fourth largest land mass, and is a ’slice of paradise’ with deserted white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Around 750 very lucky people live on the island, although the population swells to several thousand over the summer months.
